Running In Sunlight – album (2020)
We recorded this one in 2019, putting the finishing touches (and an eleventh hour song!) on in early 2020 and doing a bit of lockdown-based collaboration in the late stages of production.
The record is almost entirely acoustic-based with more stripped back instrumentation. The smaller scale production perhaps made the songwriting process a bit more impulsive and stream of consciousness.
At the end of 2020, the songs now feel more relevant than they did last year, with many of the subjects we’ve explored – societal division, climate change, the warlike rhetoric of politicians and the precariousness of creative endeavour – being highlighted by all that’s happened this year. But I hope the album has a wider meaning than that. The songs are an attempt to resolve inner conflicts and find some kind of beauty in the feeling of powerlessness this world can often inflict on its inhabitants.
everything is on hold – album (2019)
The culmination of two years of hard work and experimentation. 11 tracks about the fragility of our society and the fragility of the human soul. Includes all the singles we released in 2018 and 2019.
Two Sides, Two Mirrors – double EP (2017)
An album compilation of Mackerel and Different Seas, also including the single version of Mackerel and a cover of Beck’s ‘Feather In Your Cap’.
Mackerel – EP (2016)
I （ロブ）wrote the songs on this record while travelling around India, armed with a cheap travelling guitar bought from a roadside stall. Simon and I arranged and recorded the songs while I was dog-sitting in a rural studio. We took in a load of influences for this one- reggae, samba, country, Okinawan folk etc – and hope you enjoy the array of tracks on here. It’s also home of our song ‘Get On Your Skates’.
Different Seas – EP (2015)
A collection of songs about love, friendship, pasts and futures. We had some great feedback on Different Seas, with a number of the tracks getting airplay on stations including BBC Radio 6, Wales and South, and featured on a range of blogs, giving us the encouragement to forge on.
